Let’s face it. Answerable is nothing without its advocates. Whether it’s helping someone choose a new pair of shoes or getting the specifics on the latest piece of tech, it’s the insight and knowledge of Answerable advocates that can be the difference between buying something and abandoning the cart.
To highlight the super work our rapidly growing network of advocates is doing and how they’re using Answerable themselves, we went out and spoke with two members of the community.

Meet Shannon, an Answerable advocate and eclectic Hot Wheels collector who joined the platform at the beginning of 2021 and has been helping people purchase everything from crafts to pet care since.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
If I had to choose only one word to describe myself, it would be eclectic. A perfect example is my bedroom. The most notable items are the tye-dye bedspread, my Tiffany items and their famous blue boxes, my impressive Hot Wheels collection, my mini fridge and tea bar, the bright red sofa. It’s a bunch of stuff that normally wouldn’t go together but, if you knew me, it would make perfect sense.
When did you join Answerable as an advocate and how has your experience been so far?
I’ve been an Answerable Advocate since the beginning of 2021. Receiving the welcome email was a very exciting moment for me. The technology has been available for one-on-one communication for a while however, between fake reviews and communicating with robots, we were all losing faith and really just taking a chance when it came to online shopping. It was about time someone harnessed the technology and created an approachable way for customers to utilize it. I love having the ability to share my honest opinion and/or provide another product option should an item not be available or right for them.
How has online shopping changed now that you have the Answerable extension?
I’ve actually appreciated having access to Answerable for myself. I’ve had help choosing the best charging cord, given an awesome suggestion for a great book to read and I got help with finding a unique gift for an online engagement party. It’s almost like having a best friend living in your computer who is always there to help, and who isn’t afraid to be too honest either.
What topics are your specialty for answering?
I am in a total of 7 Answerable topics.
Toys. Who doesn’t love toys!
Health and Beauty. I think this one is my favorite. The infinite number of products, the fact science is always making improvements, perfumes, the colours, lotions, vitamins. The power of makeup is amazing.
Food and Drink. The wife, mom, and foodie in me makes me happy to be a part of this! I spend a good part of my free time planning meals and looking for new ideas. I like to keep up to date with what’s new so my family doesn’t get bored. I’d like to consider myself a bit of an expert.
Pet Care. A dog, two cats, a fish and a backyard full of birds and other critters.
Moms and Infants. We can only help each other out here. Nobody is perfect when it comes to this stuff.
Electronics. Are we on the iPhone 15 now? The PS9? This stuff changes every day. We can all use a little help sometimes.
Crafts. I love the smell of scotch tape and crayons.
Fashion. I LOVE FASHION! All of it. I am so proud of how inclusive so many brands have become. As a plus size woman who loves fun, flashy and trendy things, it’s been a bee in my bonnet for years. The struggle to find anything was awful.
Home and Houseware. I really appreciate a clean home. Kids. Animals. Husband…. Help!
Meet Ashley, an Answerable advocate helping customers across health, beauty and pet care after experiencing first-hand the disappointment of buying something and not receiving what you expected.
What made you want to get involved as an advocate and help others get the most out of their favourite brands?
I personally know how hard it is to go online and buy items just to find out it’s not what you’re expecting. I love being able to help others make the right choices so they are happy with what they purchased.
What topics are your specialty for answering?
I know a fair amount about health, beauty products, kids toys, food and drinks, and pet care so I chose those as my topics.
If you could give someone who’s just starting out as an advocate one piece of advice, what would it be?
My first piece of advice would be to start by asking your own questions so you can get the feel of how Answerable works.
What was online shopping like before you got the Answerable Chrome extension?
I spent a lot of time adding things to my cart and not actually purchasing things. I’ve second guessed many purchases and returned more items than I’d like to admit. Online shopping was much more difficult for me because I’ve always been the type to want to see the product in person, so Answerable has helped me be more confident in my purchase decisions.
